| 題目:What I Can Do for My Society | |||
|
Ask someone what they can do for their society, and
they'll ask back, ''What can the society do for me?'' This is where
egoism overwhelms self-obligation. We never want to be the one to ''sacrifice'',
to be the all-time-father of this infant community. We hesitate when
it comes to matter irrelevent to our own profit. Society, which has
led our ancestors to the way of being the most incredible creature on
earth, now has been regarded as no more than an apparatus to harvest
individual benefit. If society itself had emotions, it would surely
shed tears for how cold-blooded and blind-eyed we've become.
Ask me what I can do for my society, and I would say: I may not be able to discover a vaccine for all variations of common cold, I may not be rich enough to donate money to the homeless, I may not be smart enough to find out a way to preserve endangered species. All I can give is "care". I can listen to people's fears, people's sorrows; I can advise to seek a better life, I can learn to be diligent, I can spread the glory of love that glimmers within me. After all, what is socity, without the souls of men and women? |
