| 題目:What I Can Do for My Society | |||
|
There are times I walk on the
streets, admiring this beautifully-built city, amazed at its remarkable
improvement in technology and living standards. It's obvious that in
our society today, scarcely anyone lacks foods, warmth, or shelter,
and I'm certainly grateful to be able to taste fruit of our forefathers'
labor. However, somehow I found our society frighteningly wandering
on the valley of this millenium myth. Our people have lost their hope
, because of the catastrophe and social crime issues that took place
recently. I therefore see, in people's eyes , fear and uncertainty.
I see, in their eyes, the pressing needs of our society--faith, steadiness,
and hope.
Thus, I started wondering what I can do for my beloved society. At the very beginning, I could barely think of anything that I can do. Well, Thomas Jefferson brought liberty for his country, Chopin brought his country beautiful notes, Shakespeare brought great plays, Whitman brought poems. What can I do? What can a 18-year-old do for her society? Yet, the answer suddenly crossed my mind: I'm the youth, I'm the new generation, and therefore I'm the hope. We young people are the symbol of life, of hope, and of future. Every young man and woman has the obligation of making our society a better one. It may appear to you that this saying is however too abstract and far-from-now. But I am convinced that every young citizen should have a well-developed body and character, because energy and positive viewpoints are the best things we can ever contribute to our society. It is my dream and goal to go abroad in the coming future, and discover this wonderful world. I shall grab every chance to learn all the best knowledge and novel technololgy, so someday I will have the ability to bring a new life for my society and my fellows. And I believe that with this will, this determination, and this sincere promise, all of us will soon regain our faith and strength. |
