題目：What I Can Do For My Society
Due to the "economic miracle", our country has progressed and turned into an economically advanced state. All our material needs are satisfied and no one who is willing to work is left homeless or hungry. Yet on the spiritual side, little progress has been made. In our haste to make money, we have neglected to look after our environment, neglected to cultivate our culture, and in short, neglected to pay attention to our own spirits. Thus the roads are ugly, vandalism runs amuck, and our quality of life has gone down despite the rise in G.N.P. Society's pressing need is the resolution of all these problems. The solution lies in our hearts. I, the future backbone of society, should try to shake off the bad habits of our upbringing. I can tell people not to littter our streets, put a stop to vandalism, and through education, teach my children to respect our environment. I can use public transportation more often to reduce air pollution. I can petition the government to set up more cultural centers, more recreational centers, more parks, and so on, where the public could go and relax their souls or spend time with family. As President Li puts it, we should all go through a "psychological reformation", for a society with only money is incomplete, only with heart are we whole.
