題目:What I Can Do For My Society

I was reclining luxuriously on the sofa and watching people holding white flags, shouting and complaining loudly in front of the government for establishing a nuclear power plant near their homes on TV. I wondered why these people were always so angry and also complaining about the government. Suddenly, a saying popped out of my mind, "Don't ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I began thinking about the things which our society desperately need and also what I could do for my society. I thought of two things-love others and help those in need which I would like to share with you.

To begin with, I can show more love to the people around me.   Love can do remarkable things.  It can dissolve the hatred of a furious person or wipe out the avarice of a greedy man.  Once my brother screamed at me with no reason.  However, I immediately hugged him and said, "I love you."  He was extremely surprised at my sudden action, and then burst into tears as he apologized to me.  I forgave him and everything went well afterwards.  If I can also love others, whether they are irritating or greedy, I believe that it can reduce many worthless conflicts in my society.

The second thing I can do is to help people who are in need, such as the handicapped, the injured or the orphans. They have suffered great pain and desperately need someone who can show compassion for them. I can give aid to them by being a volunteer in a charity organization, or spending some time talking and playing with the orphans. I hope I can raise their spirits and make them feel cheerful by doing so for my society.

What can I do for my society?  I can do numerous things, but there are only two things which are the most essential of all-love and help others in need.  I hope that my society can realize these two points, and that everyone can put it into practice.  So next time I turn on the TV, there will be less demonstrations and more scenes of enthusiastic people caring and helping those who need help.
